Le disque compilation de Pink Floyd A Collection of Great Dance Songs paraît en 1981. Cet album est la troisième compilation officielle du groupe sur un total de cinq et est selon certains la pire du groupe[1]. Le disque parut d'ailleurs contre le gré de Roger Waters. La majorité des chansons a été remixée par David Gilmour, comme Shine On Your Crazy Diamond, Another Brick in the Wall, l'introduction de Wish you Were Here, et Money, réenregistrées au complet par le guitariste du groupe.

Le résultat de ce remaniement unilatéral du son original de Pink Floyd déplut à certains fans du groupe.
