Allegheny, ou ses variantes Allegany et Alleghany, est le nom de plusieurs lieux, situés principalement dans le Nord-Est des États-Unis. Le nom de ces différents toponymes vient de la rivière Allegheny, un affluent de l'Ohio, qui coule dans les États de New York et de Pennsylvanie. Son nom est un mot des Amérindiens Lenapes dont le sens n'est pas certain mais qui est souvent traduit par « belle rivière ».

L'orthographe avec un e est à l'origine l'orthographe française (la région de la rivière Alleghany fut une partie de la Nouvelle-France), celle avec un a l'orthographe anglaise.
