Les Placentaires (Placentalia), aussi appelés Euthériens (Eutheria), forment l'infraclasse la plus importante des Mammifères, dans l'embranchement des Vertébrés. Ils disposent d'un ombilic.

La principale caractéristique de cette classe est que les embryons se développent entièrement dans le corps de leur mère, et sont alimentés pendant la grossesse grâce au placenta. Les Euthériens partagent le même système XY de détermination sexuelle.

Selon ITIS et ADW :

MSW ne reconnaissait pas, jusqu'à la deuxième édition (1993) incluse, Soricomorpha, Erinaceomorpha et Afrosoricida et classait leurs membres dans un seul ordre Insectivora Haeckel, 1866, mais depuis la troisième édition (2005), MSW les considère comme trois ordres distincts.

L'ordre Artiodactyla est souvent remis en cause dans sa composition par des auteurs récents, ainsi que l'ordre Cetacea en tant qu'ordre. Ils sont alors réunis dans l'ordre Cetartiodactyla.
