Leroy Vinnegar

Leroy Vinnegar: Leroy Vinnegar (né le 13 juillet 1928 à Indianapolis – mort le 3 août 1999 à Portland, Oregon) était un contrebassiste de jazz.

Vinnegar s'est fait une réputation à Los Angeles dans les années 1950 et 1960. Sa spécificité était la ligne de "walking" basse, et son surnom le Walker. Il a participé à plusieurs albums pop en particulier Saint Dominic's Preview de Van Morrison en 1972.

Il a enregistré à la fois comme leader ou comme sideman. Il a attiré l'attention dans les années 1950 en enregistrant avec André Previn, Stan Getz, Shorty Rogers, Chet Baker, Shelly Manne, Serge Chaloff et Art Pepper (The Route (1956), The Return Of Art Pepper (1956)). Il a joué de la basse sur l'album My Fair Lady de Prévin and Manne. Il a également participé à l'album Swiss Movement d' Eddie Harris et Les McCann en 1969.

Vinnegar a déménagé à Portland en 1986.
