Synopsis

Metteur en scène, chorégraphe, drogué aux amphétamines et fumeur invétéré, Joe Gideon est un perfectionniste. Son existence est entièrement absorbée par le show-business. Sa vie privée elle-même est un spectacle. Alors qu'il monte un nouveau spectacle à Broadway, Joe est victime d'un infarctus. Pendant l'opération qui s'ensuit, il dialogue cordialement avec la Mort et voit sa vie tumultueuse défiler ...
