National Center for Biotechnology Information

Le National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), est un institut national américain pour l'information biologique moléculaire. Elle fait partie de United States National Library of Medicine (NLM), une branche du National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Le NCBI est situé à Bethesda, Maryland et a été fondé en 1988.

Le NCBI développe des bases de données publiques telles que GenBank, dbSNP ou RefSeq, conduit des recherches dans la biologie informatique, développe des logiciels pour analyser des données de génome et fournir des informations biomédicales.

Il est en quelque sorte le pendant américain de l'Institut européen de bio-informatique (EBI).
