Les Bédouins sont des nomades de culture arabe vivant dans des régions désertiques du Moyen-Orient où ils pratiquent l'élevage des caprins, des ovins et des camélidés.

Ils représenteraient environ 10 % de la population du Moyen-Orient. Une famille bédouine comprend le chef de famille, son ou ses épouse(s), et les enfants non mariés.

Les Bédouins, qui autrefois traversaient les déserts de la péninsule d'Arabie ou la Palestine sans se soucier des frontières, représentent en Syrie un peu moins de 1 % de la population. Le gouvernement a sédentarisé depuis des années ces nomades impénitents. Pasteurs pour la plupart (et quelquefois aisés) les Bédouins continuent néanmoins avec chevaux.

En Israël, le gouvernement tente de sédentariser ces populations présentes dans le Néguev et en Galilée qui, servent dans l'armée israélienne (souvent en tant que gardes-frontière) à la différence des autres Arabes israéliens qui le plus souvent n'effectuent pas le service militaire.
