MaNGOS (Massive Network Game Object Server) est un projet d'émulateur pour le protocole du MMORPG World of Warcraft. Présenté comme ayant des buts pédagogiques, MaNGOS invite à utiliser son code pour apprendre le C++. Le serveur fonctionne avec une base de données MySQL dans laquelle est stockée le contenu du monde (objets, créatures, quêtes, évènements) ainsi que les personnages des joueurs. Le serveur monde a également besoins de fichiers extraits à partir du client original de Blizzard Entertainment. MaNGOS ne distribue pas ces fichiers car cela violerait le contrat de license de Blizzard (la légalité de l'utilisation d'un tel émulateur est déjà floue).
