National Mall

Le National Mall est un parc ouvert au public du centre-ville de Washington, DC, la capitale des États-Unis. Il est bordé par de nombreux musées, monuments et mémoriaux et s'étend du Washington Monument jusqu'au Capitole des États-Unis. On y inclut communément les zones qui font officiellement partie du West Potomac Park et les Constitution Gardens à l'ouest.

Son plan fut originellement dessiné par Pierre Charles L'Enfant mais ce fut le National Park Service qui l'adopta. Le Mall est l'un des lieux touristiques les plus connus de la ville et est souvent utilisé pour les manifestations en raison de sa signification civique et historique.

Le National Mall comprend les musées et monuments suivants:

14.Smithsonian Institution Building ("dit Le château")

Il est commmun d'inclure aussi dans les monuments liés au National Mall les monuments commémoratifs situés à l'ouest du Washington Monument: le Lincoln Memorial et Reflecting Pool, le National World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, et le Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Le Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, fin de construction prévue pour 2008, sera situé sur un site près du Tidal Basin en vue des Jefferson et Lincoln memorials.
