Landaman ou Landamann ou Landammann de l'allemand Land (état / pays) et Amtmann (secrétaire / officiel).
Dans de nombreux Cantons suisses alémaniques, il s'agit du titre donné au Président du gouvernement cantonal.

Aujourd'hui, le titre de Landammann est toujours utilisé dans les cantons suivants:
- Argovie depuis 1831-32 (avant: Amtsbürgermeister)
- Appenzell Rhodes-Extérieures
- Appenzell Rhodes-Intérieures

- Nidwald
- Obwald
- Schwytz
- Soleure
- Uri
- Zoug
Confédération
Bien que de nombreux titres évoquant la présidence furent attribués au Chef de la Confédération, ce titre fut:
- Erster Landammann / Premier Landamman: 23 novembre 1801 - 6 février 1802 Alois von Reding
Puis on utilisa le raccourci de Landamman :
- 6 février 1802 - 20 avril 1802 Alois von Reding
- 20 avril 1802 - 5 juillet 1802 Vinzenz Rüttimann
- 5 juillet 1802 - 8 mars 1803 Johann Rudolf Dolder
- août 1802 - septembre 1802 Alois von Reding
- sous l'occupation française Napoléon Ier s'attribua quant à lui le titre de Médiateur.
- 10 mars 1803 au 31 décembre 1813 le Chef de la Confédération fut simplement le premier Magistrat du canton où se tenait la Diète fédérale, avec le titre de Landammann der Schweiz / Landamman de la Suisse / Landamano della Svizzera.
- Le premier Landamman de la Suisse fut Louis d'Affry (1743-1810), la Diète fédérale se tenait à Fribourg le 4 juillet 1803
