Landaman ou Landamann ou Landammann de l'allemand Land (état / pays) et Amtmann (secrétaire / officiel).

Dans de nombreux Cantons suisses alémaniques, il s'agit du titre donné au Président du gouvernement cantonal.

  • 10 mars 1803 au 31 décembre 1813 le Chef de la Confédération fut simplement le premier Magistrat du canton où se tenait la Diète fédérale, avec le titre de Landammann der Schweiz / Landamman de la Suisse / Landamano della Svizzera.
  • Le premier Landamman de la Suisse fut Louis d'Affry (1743-1810), la Diète fédérale se tenait à Fribourg le 4 juillet 1803
