Les éditions Jean-Claude Lattès (JC Lattès) sont une maison d'édition française appartenant au groupe Hachette Livre et dont le siège social se situe au 17 rue Jacob à Paris (6e).

Histoire

La maison d'édition Édition spéciale est créée en mai 1968 par Jacques Lanzmann et Jean-Claude Lattès. Son premier livre est Ce n’est qu’un début de Philippe Labro paru en Juin 1968. Il est consacré aux évènements de mai 68. Il semblerait que l'idée de base ayant présidé à cette maison d'édition, ait été la parution de livres d'actualité, traitant de sujets ne datant au plus que de quelques mois. Les éditions JC Lattès possèdent les éditons du Masque, connues pour leurs romans policiers (notamment les versions françaises des romans d'Agatha Christie).

  • 1971 : Changement de nom au profit d'un des fondateurs de la société.
  • 1981 : La société Jean-Claude Lattès intègre le groupe Hachette Livre. Jean-Claude Lattès prend la direction du groupe, à la tête duquel il reste jusqu'en 1991.
  • 1995 : Isabelle Laffont (fille de Robert Laffont, qui a fondé les éditions du même nom) prend la direction du groupe, elle y est encore de nos jours.

Les Editions Jean-Claude Lattès ont absorbé Le Masque, éditeur notamment des romans policiers d'Agatha Christie. Le Masque a créé MSK, une collection de livres à suspense pour enfants et adolescents. Cette collection inclut en particulier les livres de Frédéric Lepage "Micah et les voix de la jungle". Deux volumes parus: "Le Camp des éléphants" et "La Malédiction de Mara".
