Herald est un mot anglais qui vient du vieux français héraut (messager, ou porteur des armes, écu ou blason, d'où dérive Héraldique). Il est également un nom de famille français porté par quelques dizaines de personnes, principalement dans le sud-ouest de la France (Gironde - Pyrénées Atlantiques - quelques-uns en Indre-et-Loire) : "Hérald" s'orthographie alors avec un accent sur le E (Ref: fête annuelle des Hérald - Soulac-Mazerolles-Mourenx-Pessac-Etsaut...).
