Glynis Barber

Glynis Barber, née Glynis Van Der Reit (née le 25 octobre 1955 à Johannesbourg) est une actrice sud-africaine-britannique.

Biographie

Elle est fille unique et ses parents divorcèrent quand elle était toute petite.

A l'âge de 18 ans, elle part à Londres pour étudier à la prestigieuse Mountview Theatre School. Peu après, sa mère décéda et cet évènement eut un grand impact sur sa vie, elle le mentionna dans plusieurs interviews.

Après être devenue actrice, elle joua plusieurs rôles au théâtre, dans des films à la télévision et tourna avec la Royal Shakespeare Company.

Son premier grand succès à la télévision fut le rôle de Soolin dans la série britannique "Blake's 7" où elle y apparaît au cours de la quatrième saison (1980-1981) et où elle était apparue dans la première saison (1978) jouant le rôle de Mutoid dans l'épisode intitulé "Project Avalon".

Le rôle le plus important de Glynis Barber à la télévision fut celui du Sergent Détective Harriet Makepeace dans la série britannique Mission casse-cou (1984-1986) où elle partage le 1er rôle avec Michael Brandon.

On peut noter la ressemblance entre les histoires de Dempsey et Makepeace et celle des acteurs les incarnant. S'entendant comme chien et chat dans la série, ils cultivaient ce paradoxe sur le tournage. Mais à l'occasion d'un voyage en avion 'incognito' pour soigner un tendon de la main sectionné pour Michael Brandon, leur relation fut démasquée par Joan Collins. Ils sont mariés depuis le 18 novembre 1989, et ont un fils Alexander né le 21 novembre 1992.
