Gheorghe Ier Ghica


Gheorghe Ier Ghica (ou Ghika) (1600-1664) fut le prince de Moldavie de 1658 à 1659 puis de Valachie de 1659 à 1660.

C'était le fils d'un certain Matei, d'origine albanaise. Après avoir été prince de Moldavie de 1658 à 1659, il est nommé prince de Valachie le 20 novembre 1659 en remplacement de Mihnea III du fait des excellentes relations qu'il entretient avec le grand vizir Mehmet Köprülü lui même d'origine albanaise. S'étant trouvé dans l'impossibilité de payer le tribut dès la fin de la première année de son règne, il est destitué le 1er septembre 1660. Déjà âgé, il avait associé aux affaires son fils Grigore. Ce dernier lui succède avec l'assentiment du postelnic Constantin Cantacuzino.
