Friedrich Fromm, né le 8 octobre 1888 à Charlottenburg et mort le 12 mars 1945 à Brandebourg-sur-la-Havel était un militaire de carrière allemand. Il servit durant la Première et la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Son attitude ambiguë avant l'attentat du 20 juillet 1944 dirigé contre Adolf Hitler lui coûta la vie.

Il fut le chef de Ersatzheer (l'Armée de terre de complément) durant une grande partie de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Bien qu'informé que certains de ses subordonnés - et plus particulièrement Claus von Stauffenberg - planifient l'assassinat d'Adolf Hitler, il reste silencieux. L'attentat du 20 juillet 1944 ayant échoué, Friedrich Fromm réagit en ordonnant l'exécution des conspirateurs. Cette réaction tardive permet cependant de mettre en évidence son manque d'initiative et remet en cause sa non-implication dans le complot. Il est arrêté, reconnu coupable et condamné à la pendaison pour mauvais exercice de ses fonctions et lâcheté devant l'ennemi.

Il est exécuté par un peloton d'exécution, après qu'Adolf Hitler a lui-même commué la sentence initiale en quelque chose de « plus noble ».
