Beignets de tomates vertes (titre français) ou Le secret est dans la sauce (titre québécois) ou Fried Green Tomatoes (titre original), est un film américain tourné en 1991 par Jon Avnet.
Il est adapté du roman Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe de Fannie Flagg et elle y tient elle-même un rôle.
Synopsis
Evelyn Couch, une femme entre deux âges (« Je suis trop jeune pour être vieille et trop vieille pour être jeune » dit-elle), dépressive, rend visite à une parente dans un hôpital. Là, elle y fait la rencontre d'une charmante octogénaire, Ninny Threadgoode, qui lui raconte des histoires vécues soixante ans plus tôt. Cette rencontre va bouleverser sa vie.
