Afdhere Jama est un écrivain somalien, né à Kismaayo en 1980. Militant de la communauté gay, il est le rédacteur en chef du magazine Queer musulman Huriyah édité à San Francisco. Son dernier livre, Citoyens interdits, sous-titré Les minorités sexuelles dans les pays musulmans, est un essai qui suit la vie de 33 musulmans LGBT vivant dans 22 pays différents (Arabie Saoudite, Bosnie, Égypte, Inde, Indonésie, Israël, Nigéria, Turquie, etc.)
Biographie
Afdhere Jama a grandi à Mogadiscio. Au début des années 1990, il a émigré aux États-Unis après que la guerre civile eut ravagé son pays natal. Après des études en Californie et dans d'autres régions, il commence à écrire sur le délicat équilibre entre monde musulman et l'homosexualité. Il est le fondateur et l'actuel rédacteur en chef du magazine Huriyah. Il a également écrit pour plusieurs journaux et les magazines internationaux. Il vit à San Francisco.
