Le diocèse de Burlington, dans l'État du Vermont, a été érigé canoniquement le 29 juillet 1853 par le pape Pie IX. Son évêque est Mgr Salvatore Ronald Matano, qui siège à la cathédrale de l'Immaculée-Conception. Il est le suffragant de l'archidiocèse de Boston.

La superficie de ce diocèse est de 23 651 km². 608 827 fidèles catholiques vivent dans le territoire diocésain, soit 24,5 % de la population totale. 118 prêtres portent leur ministère dans 86 paroisses. Il y a 71 religieux et 149 religieuses à Burlington.

Les hospitalières de Saint-Joseph, les sœurs de la Charité, les sœurs de Saint-Joseph et les filles du Sacré-Cœur de Jésus ont servi l'Église au cours de l'histoire du diocèse. La cocathédrale Saint-Joseph de Burlington est une église importante de l'évêché.
