La défense Benoni est une ouverture aux échecs qui s'obtient après les coups 1.d4 Cf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5.

La défense Benoni moderne 1. d4 Cf6 2. c4 c5 3. d5 e6 4. Cc3 exd5 5. cxd5 d6 5 6. e4 g6 est aussi appelée système Hromadka, du nom du joueur d'échecs tchécoslovaque Karel Hromadka (1887-1956). La défense Benoni moderne fut popularisée par les champions du monde Mikhaïl Tal et Bobby Fischer (voir parties ci-dessous).
