Data Documentation Initiative

The Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) est un projet international destiné à créer un standard de documentation technique pour décrire les données de sciences sociales . Commencé en 1995, l'effort rassemble des professionnels des données du monde entier pour développer le standard. La spécification DDI, écrite en XML, fournit un format pour le contenu, l'échange, et la conservation de l'information. La version 3 du standard DDI doit être publiée en juin 2007.

Il est soutenu par la National Science Foundation et Health Canada. Ses membres sont constitués par des institutions américaines, canadiennes, britanniques, néerlandaise, allemande, et scandinaves.

Il permet de décrire les métadonnées statistiques.
