Catherine de Racconigi, 1486-1547, est une religieuse dominicaine italienne mystique[réf. nécessaire], reconnue pour avoir reçu les stigmates[réf. nécessaire].
Biographie
Catherine Mattei est née à Racconigi dans le Piémont en 1487, dans un milieu modeste. Son père était serrurier et sa mère tisserande.
À l'âge de cinq ans, Catherine eut des visions de Jésus Christ et de la Vierge, mais aussi d'autres saints, dont Catherine de Sienne. Elle avait de fréquentes extases.
Plus tard, elle rejoignit l'Ordre des Prêcheurs en tant que tertiaire. Ses visions augmentèrent, et elle reçut les stigmates. Toute sa vie, Catherine fut visitée par de nombreuses personnes pour lui demander conseils spirituels et prières. De nombreux miracles ont été attestés la concernant.
Elle est considérée comme bienheureuse dans l'église catholique et est fêtée le 4 septembre.
