Boxed

Boxed est le titre d'un coffret contenant quatre albums, publié par Mike Oldfield le 29 octobre 1976.

Le coffret contenait à l'origine les versions remixées en quadriphonie des trois premiers albums de Mike Oldfield : Tubular Bells (1973) assorti de la version longue de Sailor's Hornpipe, Hergest Ridge (1974) et Ommadawn (1975), le tout assorti d'un quatrième disque intitulé Collaborations, contenant des morceaux, pour la plupart inédits, de Mike Oldfield associés à d'autres artistes.

Par la suite, les versions quadriphoniques ont été remplacées par des versions stéréos. Lors de la réédition en CD en 1989, le contenu du disque Collaborations a été réparti sur les autres disques pour ne former qu'un coffret de trois disques au total.

Les remixes des trois premiers albums ont été l'occasion de retouches des arrangements, particulièrement importantes sur Hergest Ridge. Par la suite, Mike Oldfield a décidé de remplacer tous les pressages d'Hergest Ridge par ceux de la version remixée. On ne note donc plus de différence aujourd'hui entre la version album et la version coffret.
