Vodafone Crossword Book Award

Vodafone Crossword Book Award (anciennement Hutch-Crossword Book Award) est un prix littéraire indien parrainé par Vodafone et Crossword Bookstores[1]. It is India's biggest private sector award[2]. Le prix a été institué en 1998 dans l'intention d'être competitif avec le Prix Booker, Commonwealth Writers' Prize ou le Prix Pulitzer.

Alors que plusieurs écrivains indiens ont reçu des récompenses à l'étranger, nous avions observé qu'il n'y avait pas de récompense équivalente en Inde. Nous avons donc décidé d'encourager et de promouvoire la bonne littérature indienne et avons institué ce prix littéraire en 1998. C'est la seule récompense indienne qui reconnaît et récompense non seulement la bonne littérature mais promeut aussi activement les auteurs et leurs livres[1].
