Elizabeth Hawley (née le 9 novembre 1923 à Chicago) est une journaliste américaine, installée à Katmandou au Népal depuis 1960. Elle y tient la chronique de toutes les expéditions himalayennes. Bien que n'ayant aucun statut ou rôle officiel, ses archives constituent la référence incontournable pour la communauté montagnarde, pour les premières ascensions et les répétitions.
Elle a reçu en 1998 le prix de la King Albert I Memorial Foundation[1].
En 2008, l'alpiniste français François Damilano a baptisé en son honneur Pic Hawley un sommet vierge de 6 182 m dans le groupe du Dhaulagiri dont il venait de faire la première ascension[2]
