Anne Chapman, (Anne MacKaye Chapman) née en 1922 à Los Angeles et morte le 12 juin 2010 à Paris[1], est une ethnologue et anthropologue franco-américaine.

Biographie

Docteur en anthropologie de l'université de Paris, René-Descartes, elle a travaillé avec Claude Lévi-Strauss, Paul Kirchhoff, Alfonso Villas Rojas et Karl Polanyi[2]. Après avoir travaillé sur les civilisations de la Mésoamérique et plus précisément le peuple Tolupan au Honduras, elle rejoint la Terre de Feu afin d'y étudier les derniers amérindiens Selknams et Yagans[3].

Directrice honoraire au CNRS à la retraite, elle partage sa vie entre Paris, Mexico et Buenos Aires.
