Veno Pilon

Veno Pilon (22 septembre 1896 - 23 septembre 1970) était un peintre expressionniste Slovène, un artiste designer et un photographe.

Biographie

Pilon est né à Ajdovščina en 1896. À cette époque, la région fait encore partie de l’Empire d’Autriche-Hongrie et plus particulièrement de la province de Gorizia et Gradisca (actuellement en Slovénie). Après avoir fait ses études à Gorizia, il fut enrôlé dans l’armée austro-hongroise lors de la première Guerre mondiale. Il fut ainsi envoyé sur le front de l’est où il fut capturé par l’armée de l’Empire de Russie. Il raconta plus tard dans une biographie sa vie en tant que prisonnier de guerre dans son livre Na robu (« Sur le Tranchant »). Il revint à Ajdovščina en 1919 où il se mit à peindre. À la fin des années 1920, Pilon déménagea à Paris en France où il se mit à la photographie. L’artiste décéda à Ajdovščina en 1970.
