Unified Combattant Command
Un Commandement Interarmées de Combat (Unified Combattant Command; COCOM) est composé d'effectifs provenant d'au moins deux branches distinctes des forces armées des États-Unis. Sa mission est permanente et géographiquement étendue.
Il s'organise soit autour d'une zone géographique appelée zone de responsabilité (ou AOR, Area Of Responsibility), soit autour d'un axe fonctionnel.
Il existe actuellement (octobre 2008) dix commandements interarmées de combat. Six ont des responsabilités géographiques et quatre ont des responsabilités fonctionnelles.

La chaîne de commandement suit l'ordre suivant :

- Secrétaire à la Défense
- Chefs des Unified Combatant Commands
Nota : Le président du Joint Chiefs of Staff peut communiquer avec les chefs des Unified Combattant Commands mais n'exerce aucune autorité militaire sur une quelconque force de combat.
