Cinq navires de l'US Navy ont été nommés USS Potomac, d'après le Potomac rivière coulant entre la Virginie, la Virginie-Occidentale et le Maryland.

  1. USS Potomac, une frégate lancée en 1822 et revendue en 1877
  2. USS Potomac, un ancien baleinier, racheté en novembre 1861 et utilisé avec la "Stone Fleet", un groupe de navires utilisé pour bloquer les entrées des ports confédérés pendant la guerre de Sécession et coulé à cet effet le 9 janvier 1862
  3. USS Potomac AT-50, un remorqueur racheté en 1898 pour servir lors de la guerre hispano-américaine. Il fut décommissionné en 1922.
  4. USS Potomac (AG 25), un cotre de l'US Coast Guard reconverti en yacht présidentiel pour Franklin Delano Roosevelt de 1936 à 1945. Désormais préservé à Oakland en Californie.
  5. USS Potomac AO-150, un pétrolier lancé en 1956, il fut endommagé par une explosion en 1961; le navire reconstruit fur renommé Shenandoah.
