Themselves (littéralement « eux-mêmes » en anglais) est un duo californien (Oakland) de hip-hop composé du rappeur Doseone (Adam Drucker) et du producteur Jel (Jeff Logan), tous deux signés sur le label anticon.. Dax Pierson, ou Dax, a aussi joué les claviers bien qu'il ne soit pas officiellement membre du groupe. Jusqu'à présent, ils ont sorti trois albums ainsi que deux singles sur le label anticon., et certaines de leurs compositions ont été incluses sur des compilations. Leurs premiers albums et morceaux ont été publiés sous le nom de Them.

Biographie

Themselves sont pour la première fois apparus en 1998 sur la compilation du label anticon. Music for the Advancement of Hip Hop sous le nom de Them, avec la piste « It's Them ».

Leur premier album, Them, est sorti en 1999 après avoir été enregistré entre 1997 et 1998, toujours sous le nom de groupe Them (l'album a été réédité en 2003 sous le nom définitif du groupe). Il est suivi par les singles Joyful Toy of 1001 Faces en 2000 et This About the City Too en 2002.

En 2002, ils sortent leur second album, The No Music, qui aura le mérite de faire croître l'attention prêtée au groupe et au label. L'année suivante sort le même album dont les pistes ont été remixées (notamment par Why?, Alias, Odd Nosdam ou The Notwist), intitulé The No Music of AIFFS.

En 2004, le duo a rejoint le groupe de rock allemand The Notwist pour former 13 and God, groupe de Hip-Hop ambiental expérimental qui sortira un album éponyme.
