sont disponibles sur CommonsLa famille des Sphyrnidae regroupe les 9 espèces de Requins-marteaux, nommés ainsi du fait de la forme de leur tête en T, rappelant une masse. Cette forme lui donne une meilleure vision[1], tant au niveau champ visuel qu'au niveau vision stéréoscopique[2], ainsi qu'un odorat plus développé[3].
Elle est constituée de deux genres et fut définie par le zoologiste américain Theodore Nicholas Gill (1837-1914).
