Senchan est un chef des poètes d'Irlande, (les Filid).

Il est cité dans un texte ancien de la littérature irlandaise. Lors d'une discussion avec Marban, Ermite-ascète irlandais, ce dernier critique les faiblesses de ses connaissances[1].
