Attila Kotányi, né en 1924 en Hongrie et mort le 18 octobre 2003, est un écrivain et architecte hongrois.
Biographie
Il vécut d'abord à Budapest où il était en contact avec les théoriciens Lajos Szabó (hu) et Béla Hamvas (en). En 1956, après avoir participé à l'insurrection populaire en Hongrie, il dut s'enfuir avec sa famille vers Bruxelles en passant par la Yougoslavie. En 1960, il entendit parler d'un groupe d'artistes appelé Internationale situationniste dont il devint bientôt membre.
Il soutenait la thèse de l'impossibilité d'un art non corrompu et s'occupait des traditions du mysticisme chrétien.
Dans les années 1970-1980, il enseigna l'art à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Düsseldorf. Dans les années 1990, il vécut de nouveau à Budapest. Sa fille, Sophie Kotányi, est réalisatrice et en 1997 elle a décrit les circonstances de leur fuite de Hongrie et leur vie en Belgique dans son film Amor fati.
