Script doctor

Le terme anglais de script doctor désigne, dans le milieu de l'audiovisuel, une personne à qui il est fait appel pour intervenir sur un scénario afin de l'améliorer et le rendre exploitable. Un terme équivalent français pourrait être celui de consultant scénario.

Il s'agit généralement d'un scénariste lui-même confirmé mais pas systématiquement. Jean-Claude Carrière a ainsi souvent opéré à ce titre, mais l'actrice Carrie Fisher (la princesse Leia de Star Wars) s'est aussi fait un nom en la matière à Hollywood. En France, des scénaristes comme Gilles Taurand, ou Stéphane Cabel (scénariste sur Le Pacte des loups) oeuvrent parfois en tant que consultants, mais il est à remarquer que ce métier tend à être reconnu dans les génériques des films français comme par exemple Isabelle Fauvel qui a collaboré avec Martin Provost sur le film Séraphine par ailleurs sept fois césarisé.

Autres script doctors célèbres : William Goldman, Ben Hecht, Yves Lavandier, Claude Sautet, Linda Seger (en), Francis Veber.
