Un sanshin

Le jabisen (蛇皮線?) est un instrument de musique à cordes pincées originaire de Chine et développé à Okinawa ou il est appelé sanshin (三線? littéralement « trois cordes », sanxian en chinois), en référence au nom chinois de cet instrument. C'est un luth à long manche sans frette.

Il est utilisé en musique japonaise, notamment dans le Chindon, fanfare japonaise inspirée des marching bands de la Nouvelle Orléans. Il est à l'origine du shamisen, instrument typiquement japonais.

Il tire son nom japonais de la conception en peau de serpent de sa caisse de résonance.
