Robert Sink

Le Lieutenant Général Robert Frederick Sink (3 avril 1905 - 13 décembre 1965) fut un officier des forces armées des États-Unis d'Amérique durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la guerre de Corée, le Panama, ainsi que le début de la guerre du Vietnam. Il est célèbre pour avoir commandé le 506e régiment d'infanterie parachutée de la 101e division aéroportée.

Seconde Guerre Mondiale

En 1940, Robert Sink fut affecté au 501e régiment d'infanterie parachutée à Fort Benning. Plus tard il commanda le 503e régiment d'infanterie parachutée. En 1942 il fut nommé commandant du 506e régiment d'infanterie parachutée à Toccoa, en Géorgie. Sink commanda le 506e durant toute la seconde guerre mondiale et refusa deux promotions pour rester avec son unité. Il fut surnommé "Five"O"Sink" par ses hommes en référence au régiment "five O six" (506 en anglais).
