Quid pro quo

Quid pro quo est une locution latine qui signifie quelque chose pour quelque chose ou quelque chose contre quelque chose, autrement dit un échange de bons procédés, du donnant-donnant… L'expression s'emploie notamment en anglais moderne, dans le contexte juridique.

Voir quiproquo pour l'expression qui, dans les langues latines, définit une malentendu ou une erreur intervenue dans le cours d'une communication, créé par la substitution d'une chose pour une autre : quelque chose dit par l'un est compris différemment par l'autre.

On emploi cette expression en particulier dans le contexte de la transcription d'un texte, à ne pas confondre avec le mot quiproquo employé dans le contexte théâtral.
