Le Psammead est un personnage de littérature d'enfance et de jeunesse créé par Edith Nesbit. Il s'agit d'une fée des sables, pouvant exaucer n'importe quel souhait.
Il apparait dans trois romans : Five Children and It (1902), The Phoenix and the Carpet (1904) et The Story of the Amulet (1906).
Des enfants en vacances près de Camden Town, Cyril, Anthea, Robert and Jane le découvrent en creusant dans le sable.
Son apparence physique est étrange et composite : il a des yeux tentaculaires comme les escargots, des oreilles de chauve-souris, un corps recouvert de fourrure et des mains et pieds de singe.
Très âgé, il possède un caractère irritable.
