Peter Stringer (né le 13 décembre 1977) est un joueur de rugby à XV. Il évolue au poste de demi de mêlée avec l'équipe d'Irlande et la province du Munster.

Malgré ses 74 kg, il est réputé pour plaquer des adversaires plus imposants que lui, notamment à l'aide de "cuillères".

En mai 2006, il inscrivit avec le Munster l'essai de la victoire face aux français du Biarritz olympique lors de la finale de la Coupe d'Europe.

Il fut par le passé élève du collège privé Presentation Brothers College de Cork tout comme son comparse Ronan O'Gara.

Il a participé à 82 matchs de coupe d'Europe de rugby de 1998 à 2009 au 31 décembre 2009.

En équipe nationale

Il a eu sa première cape internationale à l’occasion d’un test match le 19 février 2000 contre l'équipe d'Écosse.

Peter Stringer a disputé la coupe du monde 2003 (5 matchs joués) et la coupe du monde 2007 (2 matchs joués).
