Orthomyxoviridae
Les Orthomyxoviridae sont une famille de virus à ARN qui comprend cinq genres: Influenzavirus A, Influenzavirus B, Influenzavirus C, Isavirus et Thogotovirus. Les trois premièrs genres contiennent les virus qui causent la grippe chez les vertébrés, y compris les oiseaux (voir aussi la grippe aviaire), les humains, et d'autres mammifères. Isaviruses infecte les saumons; thogotoviruses infecte les vertébrés et les invertébrés, comme les moustiques et des parasites du poisson.
Les trois premiers genre regroupé sous le nom de Myxovirus influenzae infectent les vertébrés comme suit:
