L'OPTO (One Person Automatic Train Operation) est un terme employé pour désigner les métros du métro de New York qui sont seulement manœuvrés par un opérateur. Dans ces métros, il n'y a pas de conducteur, mais seulement un opérateur qui est responsable du fonctionnement du train, et de l'ouverture/fermeture des portes. L'OPTO est utilisé dans le cadre de l'automatisation du métro de New York.
L'OPTO est apparu en 1996, et a d'abord été utilisé dans des shuttles (navettes) c’est-à-dire des lignes de métro qui couvrent de courtes distances, entre deux grands centres par exemple. Par la suite, l'OPTO a été utilisé sur les lignes de métro régulières. À New York, l'OPTO est déjà en place sur les lignes S 42nd Street Shuttle, S Rockaway Park Shuttle, S Franklin Avenue Shuttle ainsi que sur la ligne G. D'autres lignes devraient bientôt être pourvues de ce système.
