John Matthew Stafford, né le 7 février 1988 à Tampa (Floride), est un joueur américain de football américain évoluant au poste de quarterback.
Étudiant à l'Université de Géorgie, il joua pour les Georgia Bulldogs.
Il fut drafté en 2009 à la 1re place par les Lions de Détroit. L'accord avait été conclu une journée avant la séance de sélection. Le contrat signé est de 72 millions de dollars, dont 41,7 millions de dollars garantis — un record en NFL — pour six ans[1]. Il est le quarterback titulaire à sa première saison.
