Matchstick est un rappeur né en 1984 à Nice.

Biographie

A l'âge de 11 ans, il part habiter à Trenton, dans le New Jersey aux États-Unis, ce qui lui permet d'utiliser cette langue pour le rap. Capable de bien "rhymer" dans les batailles freestyle, il décide de mettre entre parenthèses le métier de DJ et s'oriente vers le rap.[réf. nécessaire]

A l'âge de 15 ans, il joue pour la première fois à Liquid's (New York). Il enchaîne ensuite les boîtes: Conduit, Club Xl, Paradise (New Jersey), Monte Carlo Living Room (Philadelphie), La Scène, Club Purple, Blue Boy et Midnight (sur la Côte d'Azur).

Il passe quatre mois à Nice, ce qui lui permet de rapper en live.

De retour aux États-Unis, il enregistre son premier CD, The Connect Part One, réalisé en trois semaines.[réf. nécessaire]

Encouragé par cette première démo, il enregistre The Connect Part Two dans la foulée. Puis The Connect Part Three, avec le titre Too Fly pour lequel Matchstick réalise son premier clip vidéo amateur [réf. nécessaire].

Matchstick se lance ensuite dans de nouveaux projets et retourne en France pour enregistrer son street album Shock Therapy avec des featurings de La Fouine, Busta Flex, K-reen, Billy Bats et Nathy avec la collaboration de DJ Battle & Dj Poska. Un album enregistré et mixé par Jeff Dominguez & Reptile.

Participations

En avril 2005 Matchstick est sélectionné en tant que premier juge du New Jersey aux Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) [1],[2] à Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Puis en septembre 2005 à Trenton, New Jersey, pour la finale[3],[4] des Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Avec Russell Simmons, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, The Game et d'autres.

Matchstick apparaît sur des chaînes de télévision (BET, MTV, Spike TV, FX Network, VH1) dans une publicité à l'occasion de la finale des Hip-Hop Summit 2005[5],[6] aux côtés Russell Simmons, Reverend Run, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana
