Le London Sinfonietta est un orchestre de chambre installé à Londres, spécialisé dans la musique classique contemporaine. Nicholas Snowman et David Atherton ont fondé cet orchestre en 1968.
Le London Sinfonietta a commandé de nombreuses œuvres à des compositeurs contemporains tels que Magnus Lindberg, Thomas Adès, Henryk Górecki, Steve Reich ou Sir Harrison Birtwistle.
Il a créé en 1969 The Whale de John Tavener. Il a interprété des œuvres de Iannis Xenakis, Luciano Berio, mais aussi Tansy Davies, Dai Fujikura, Jonny Greenwood, Django Bates, Kenneth Hesketh et Mark-Anthony Turnage.
