Kenny Kirkland

Kenny Kirkland, de son nom complet Kenneth David Kirkland, était un musicien de jazz né le 28 décembre 1955 et décédé le 11 novembre 1998.

Le père de Kenny Kirkland a poussé tous ses enfants à apprendre le piano. Seul Kenny a persévéré, même si ce dernier a avoué que son apprentissage fut au départ à contre-cœur.

Kenny devient un pianiste de jazz très doué. Ses collaborations les plus célèbres furent avec Wynton Marsalis et Sting avec lequel il s'illustre sur l'album The Dream of the Blue Turtles et le double-live Bring on the Night, dont seront tirés un double CD audio et un DVD. Kenny Kirkland fit cadeau à Sting de la chanson Dienda qui vient compléter les compositions jazz de Sting.

Kenny Kirkland fut retrouvé mort dans son appartement à New York victime de drogues, à la veille de ses 43 ans.
