Jonathan Z. Smith, de son nom complet Jonathan Zittell Smith est un historien des religions. Ses recherches portent sur la théorie du rituel, dans les religions hellénistique, les cultes Māori au XIXe siècle, et sur le suicide de masse à Jonestown, Guyana.
