Jack Daniel’s est une distillerie américaine de whiskey, célèbre pour ses bouteilles carrées et son label noir.

La distillerie a été créée par Jack Daniel en 1866 à Lynchburg au Tennessee. La compagnie est la propriété du groupe Brown-Forman Corporation depuis 1957.

Alors qu’il était agé de seulement 19 ans Jack Daniel met en vente un bourbon dans la bouteille carrée qui deviendra vite fameuse. La qualité du bourbon est vite reconnue. Après sa mort en 1911, la distillerie passe sous la direction de son neveu Lem Motlow. Celui-ci, après un exil pendant la prohibition relance la production à Lynchburg. En 1941, le style à part du bourbon élaboré dans le Tennessee est enfin reconnu. Une nouvelle appellation voit le jour : le Tennessee whiskey.

Aujourd’hui la distillerie possède cinq alambics pour la fabrication des différentes versions de son whiskey. La particularité de celui-ci est qu’il est filtré au travers d’une couche de charbon de bois d'érable.

Contrairement aux idées reçues, le Jack Daniel's n'est pas un bourbon mais un Tennessee whiskey.

Tourisme

La distillerie possède un grand centre d’accueil pour les visiteurs. Devenue une véritable attraction touristique accueillant plusieurs dizaines de milliers de visiteurs par an, celle-ci fait partie d’un circuit de l'American Whiskey Trail, l’équivalent d’une route des vins en France.
