L'intussusception désigne, en physiologie, le mode d'accroissement d'un organisme, d'une cellule vivante, par la pénétration et l'incorporation de matériaux et d'éléments nutritifs empruntés au monde extérieur.

L'intussusception désigne, en médecine, l'entrée d'un morceaux d'intestin dans un autre.

En sciences humaines

Certains auteurs tel Marcel Jousse utilisent le terme en mode métaphorique pour désigner la dynamique par laquelle un individu incorpore le monde de manière quasi automatique en particulier par la mimèsis.
