Alekseï Troïtski
Alekseï Alekseïevitch Troïtski ou Troitzky (en russe : Алексе́й Алексе́евич Тро́ицкий), (14 mars 1866 à Saint Pétersbourg – août 1942 à Léningrad), compositeur d'études d'échecs, fondateur avec Henri Rinck de l'étude d'échecs moderne (Seirawan 2003, p. 91). Il meurt de sous-alimentation pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, au cours du siège de Léningrad, où ses notes sont détruites.
L'une de ses études les plus célèbres est celle de la finale roi et deux cavaliers contre roi et pion. John Nunn a analysé cette étude avec des tables de finales et conclut que « l'analyse de Troitzky... est d'une exactitude étonnante » (Nunn 1995, p. 265).

Troitzky était un compositeur prolifique d'études de finales. Irving Chernev a inclus neuf d'entre elles dans son livre 200 Brilliant Endgames. Ce diagramme en fait partie, la variante principale est la suivante :
