Elliot McKay See Junior, né le 23 juillet 1927 à Dallas (Texas) et mort le 28 février 1966 à Saint-Louis (Missouri), était un aspirant-astronaute américain.

Il était marié et avait trois enfants : Sally, Carolyn et David.

Biographie

Issu de l'US Navy, il devient pilote d'essai civil pour la firme General Electric. Il contribue à mettre au point le chasseur-bombardier F-4 Phantom.

Sélectionné par la NASA comme aspirant astronaute, il trouve la mort aux côtés de Charles Bassett dans un accident d'avion, avant d'avoir effectué le moindre vol spatial.

Il fut nommé pilote dans l'équipage de réserve de Gemini 5 au côté de Neil Armstrong, pilote et commandant de bord.

Prévu pour voler sur Gemini 8, il fut finalement promu commandant du vol Gemini 9. Son décès ainsi que celui de Charles Bassett, à bord d'un Northrop T-38 Talon piloté par Elliot, interviennent avant le lancement de la mission (16 mars 1966).
